‘Terrifying. I’ve got this big six foot nine Batman jumping over the table. I’ve changed my mind!’

Tyson Fury

WHAT would go through your mind if you were dressed as The Joker and an animated Tyson Fury, in a Batman costume, was leaping through the air, ready to take you down? This was exactly the predicament Tyson’s cousin, Hughie Fury found himself in.

“It was only a last minute thing. It was terrifying. Then I’ve got this big six foot nine [Batman] jumping over the table. I’ve changed my mind!” Hughie told Boxing News. Nor was he expecting to end up rolling through the heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko’s world title belts. “At least I got to touch them,” Hughie laughed.

Fury, a rising heavyweight himself, was due to box Nicolai Firtha on Tyson’s undercard, though now that show has been postponed due to Klitschko picking up an injury.

Hughie has been preparing alongside Tyson as he readied himself for his heavyweight title challenge. “I’ve been sparring with all his sparring partners,” Hughie said. “It’s all very good sparring.

“It’s different to anything [this camp]. There’s more concentration. It’s harder, grueling. He’s got one chance to prove himself to the world.”
