THE Ukrainian is fast becoming a modern great. He was already one of the world’s finest amateur boxers, winning the Olympic Games in style in 2008 and 2012.
He turned professional and went straight into a world title shot in his second contest. He lost controversially then to Orlando Salido but has risen rapidly to become a three weight world champion in just 14 contests.
Along the way he beat Gary Russell Jnr at featherweight, knocking out Roman Martinez at super-feather and forcing fighters like Guillermo Rigondeaux, Nicholas Walters and more to retire on their stools.
He stopped the brilliant Jorge Linares to unify lightweight world titles and is now on the road to becoming undisputed.
