DISCUSSIONS to stage a show pitting Matchroomโ€™s British fighters against Floyd Mayweatherโ€™s โ€˜Money Teamโ€™ are on going. But there is a busy schedule taking shape for the second half of 2016, which makes the mooted team match unlikely.

Matchroomโ€™s Eddie Hearn said, โ€œItโ€™s still on going, weโ€™re still talking but the problem at the moment is when we look at our schedule: September 3 could be [Kell] Brook or Eubank-Golovkin or whatever, September 10 weโ€™re looking at possibly Tony Bellew in Liverpool, September 17 will be abroad for a Brit in a world title fight, September 24 is [Anthony] Crolla, October 1 is the Ryder Cup, so thatโ€™s a non-starter, October 8 weโ€™re looking at the Hydro for [Ricky] Burnsโ€™ defence, October 22 Birmingham hopefully for [Kal] Yafaiโ€™s world title and [Frankie] Gavin against [Sam] Eggington and November weโ€™re coming up to [Anthony] Joshua.”

He added, โ€œThe only other thing with that is the fighters that could take part are Luke Campbell, Rocky Fielding, maybe Ricky Burnsโ€ฆ Theyโ€™re quite geographically spread so where do you do the event that really captures the imagination of the city? Iโ€™m not sure how much Floydโ€™s going to enjoy sitting in Leeds having pints rain down on him, do you know what I mean? It has to be in a city thatโ€™s going to embrace the format.โ€
