Pat McCormack and Josh Kelly one win away from Olympic qualification

JOSH KELLY and Pat McCormack have reached the quarter-finals of the Olympic Qualification Event in Baku, Azerbaijan. It means they are one victory away from winning a place at Rio 2016.

On Monday (June 20) Kelly unanimously outpointed Estoniaโ€™s Kaupo Arro, winning 30-27 for all three judges. Today (June 21) after beating Georgiaโ€™s Lasha Guruli on a unanimous decision, similarly 30-27 for all three judges, Pat McCormack joined his GB team-mate in the last eight.

Darren Oโ€™Neillโ€™s Olympic dream is over. The Irish 91kgs lost a unanimous decision to Nigeriaโ€™s Efetobor Apochi. His middleweight team-mate Michael Oโ€™Reilly however advanced with a unanimous points win over Belarusโ€™ Vitali Bandarenka.
