Michael Conlan (Featherweight contender)
Itโs hard to argue against my own fight with Leigh Wood. It had everything you look for in an instant classic. I suppose that fight was that makes boxing what it is: anything can happen.
Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)
I would have to choose the Leigh Wood vs. Michael Conlan fight. It was pure excitement. The crowd were on their feet from the first round. Both fighters showed great heart in a back-and-forth fight and thatโs what boxing is all about. Wood was so impressive coming back from a first-round knockdown. He looked to be losing the fight only to show what champions are made of in front of his home crowd and end it with a sensational last-round knockout.
Jordan Gill (Former European featherweight champion)
The most exciting fight for me was easily Leigh Wood vs. Michael Conlan. Excitement and sheer quality from start to finish from both fighters. Itโs the best fight Iโve ever seen live and itโs also a personal favourite because I got to see my old flat mate Leigh retain his title.
Ryan Walsh (Former British featherweight champion)
It has to be the โFight of the Yearโ between Michael Conlan and Leigh Wood. Conlan was putting on the performance of his career and Leigh Wood showed unbelievable heart. The knockout was everything: sensational, sickening, bizarre. It why we love this thing of ours!
