Panel: What should Josh Taylor’s next move be?

Josh Taylor

Kalle Sauerland
Leading Promoter

Heโ€™s conquered the world, heโ€™s unified the division. He went into the WBSS as a contender, came out a champion, went on to capture the last belts. Heโ€™s got a mandatory defence then heโ€™ll be looking for those big US pay-per-view names, like Terence Crawford and maybe even a legacy fight with Pacquiao.

He has mentioned Edinburgh Castle and Easter Road. Iโ€™m not sure if thereโ€™s time to get a fight on there this summer but him vs Jack Catterall – Scotland vs England – up in Scotland would be great. If he wins then a huge fight in Las Vegas next year so his fans get a trip after they missed out last weekend.

Darren Barker
Former IBF titlist

Move up to welter and fight Terence Crawford. Itโ€™s the biggest fight out there for him. Iโ€™d just steam into the big โ€˜uns. Why not? You could say that itโ€™s too soon but heโ€™s flying. Iโ€™m all for that, straight in. His confidence is as high as it could be. Heโ€™ll feel heโ€™s invincible and thatโ€™s the mindset you need going into a fight like that. Why wait?

Paul Ready
Boxing manager

I think he should have that homecoming fight against Jack Catterall then Teofimo Lopez. Thereโ€™s a bit of a clamour for him to go up. I think stay at 140lbs, the lightweights are going to come up. Sit tight, youโ€™re the king of the division theyโ€™re all going to want to fight you. So keep that target on your back.
