Matt Korobov: ‘I want Charlo again but first I have to take care of Eubank Jr’

ENGLISH star Chris Eubank Jr and quality Russian contender Matt Korobov meet for the interim WBA middleweight title at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this weekend.

โ€œIโ€™m really happy with how my training camp was. I had no injuries and everything was very smooth. Training camp definitely went to plan so that we can get this win on Saturday night.

โ€œIโ€™m excited to be back in Brooklyn one year later after I fought Jermall Charlo at Barclays Center. Thereโ€™s definitely some de ja vu for me. Itโ€™s the same gym and the same time and same people I saw last year. Iโ€™m really happy about it and focusing on being able to show my best on Saturday night.

โ€œThe Charlo fight put me on another level as a fighter. Theyโ€™re all going to have to start looking at me as one of the best in the division. Iโ€™m excited to take advantage of my opportunity Saturday and get another big fight.

โ€œItโ€™s Eubankโ€™s problem if heโ€™s focused on getting the Jermall Charlo fight. Iโ€™m just focused on doing my job and doing my best. Iโ€™m very confident for this fight.

โ€œIt makes sense to me that Iโ€™d fight Charlo next if I win. Iโ€™m definitely hoping to get that fight in 2020 but first I have to take care of Eubank.

โ€œWeโ€™ll see what Eubank can do Saturday night. Itโ€™s hard to say what heโ€™ll fight like until then. Itโ€™s boxing. Any of us could have a bad night or the night of our life.

โ€œEubank looked very good when he beat James DeGale. It surprised a lot of people but I know that heโ€™s a strong fighter. I wasnโ€™t that surprised. DeGale might not have been ready, but Iโ€™m always 100 percent prepared.โ€
