Lennox Lewis: ‘We create our own pressure’

Lennox Lewis

HEAVYWEIGHT legend Lennox Lewis was at the Peacock gym to oversee Chris Eubank Jr run through a light session on the pads in the final days ahead of his outing on ITV’s new Box Office platform. As ever by his son’s shoulder was another legendary British boxer, Chris Eubank Sr. But Lennox is impressed by how Junior is coping in the shadow of his illustrious father.

“It’s always hard because people expect a lot from you,” Lewis said. “There’s no pressure on him. We create our own pressure. He doesn’t seem like any pressure is bothering him right now. He’s pretty focused, he knows what he wants to do and he just has to go out there and work hard and do it.”

Lewis continued, “I think he’s developed quite well. Obviously boxing’s in his blood, it’s coming from his dad and he wants to be great as well, he wants to be a champion. So he’s done it very well, I love his boxing style, he’s got a good right hand, I love the way he goes to the body. I need to see more of him and I’m here to see more of him.”
