Keyshawn Davis vs. Gustavo Lemos – Boxing Betting Prediction

A HOMECOMING and a weigh-in disaster are some interesting ingredients to mix into Keyshawn Davis vs. Gustavo Lemos.

Davis (1/6) isn’t short of confidence or ability and was happy to proceed with the fight despite the Argentinian’s attempts to make the lightweight limit. Today’s fight day rehydration has seen Lemos weight 144.6lbs, under the 146lbs limit, which was agreed after he came in six pounds over. Davis weighed 141.2lbs.

Confidence and inexperience are a volatile mix and Davis, 11-0 (7 KOs), will be hungry to prove that he can handle Lemos’ weight advantage. The 25-year-old will need to contend with an expectant crowd at the Scope Arena, Norfolk where several thousand fans will be in his corner. However, that can be a disadvantage and push a boxer into fighting with their heart and not their head.

Lemos (4/1) will be licking his lips if Davis does decide to walk forward and throw hands with him. His typical South American style retired Lee Selby in 2022 and almost won him a 140lbs world title eliminator against Richardson Hitchins in April.

Make no mistake Lemos, 29-1 (19 KOs), is a potential handful for Davis tonight. The American showed in his last fight against Miguel Madueno that he can handle the rough stuff and dish it out as well. Such actions won’t faze Lemos, however, if things turn crude.

The early stages of this 10-round bout could be key. Lemos may throw caution to the win knowing the weight failure may catch up with him later in the fight. Davis is unquestionably a talent and sometimes it’s forgotten he won silver at the Tokyo Olympics where Andy Cruz beat him in the lightweight final.

It’s a big night for the Davis family with Keyshawn and younger brothers (Kelvin and Keon) fighting on the same card. The eldest should have too much class for Lemos but victory may come with some bumps along the way.
