Kell Brook-Brandon Rios eyed for September 12

PROMOTER Eddie Hearn still wants to match IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook against Brandon Rios. But rather than taking place in a stadium in Sheffield on August 29 it could be pushed back and held later this year, possibly on the September 12 show at the O2 in London.

Brookโ€™s promoter Hearn said, โ€œHe wasnโ€™t flat in the Frankie Gavin fight but he trained for so long after the injury [Brook was badly hurt in a knife attack], that camp for Jo Jo Dan was probably about 18 weeks and then he had two days off and then he did an eight week camp for Frankie Gavin. I donโ€™t know whether he can have a week off and now go straight back into a camp for Brandon Rios, because you canโ€™t be 80 percent against Brandon Rios because itโ€™s going to be tough work.

“Is it a case of we have a two week delay until the O2 and do Brook-Rios on there? Or do we just say to him have a month off and go in September, early October?โ€
