PROMOTER Eddie Hearn still wants to match IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook against Brandon Rios. But rather than taking place in a stadium in Sheffield on August 29 it could be pushed back and held later this year, possibly on the September 12 show at the O2 in London.
Brookโs promoter Hearn said, โHe wasnโt flat in the Frankie Gavin fight but he trained for so long after the injury [Brook was badly hurt in a knife attack], that camp for Jo Jo Dan was probably about 18 weeks and then he had two days off and then he did an eight week camp for Frankie Gavin. I donโt know whether he can have a week off and now go straight back into a camp for Brandon Rios, because you canโt be 80 percent against Brandon Rios because itโs going to be tough work.
“Is it a case of we have a two week delay until the O2 and do Brook-Rios on there? Or do we just say to him have a month off and go in September, early October?โ
