Justis Huni dismantles Shaun Potgieter in two on the Gold Coast

JUSTIS HUNI racked up his second two-round blowout in just four weeks by despatching Shaun Potgieter on the Gold Coast.

Huni beat Leandro Daniel Robutti in Fortitude Valley on December 11 inside two and was straight back to action here on the undercard of Jai Opetaia against David Nyika.

And he moved to 12-0 (7) by virtue of another quick stoppage, which came after 33 seconds of the second round.

The 25-year-old seemed in no time to hang around, flying straight into Potgieter, targeting the body with the left hook before looking to follow up with overhand rights.

One of those body shots appeared to stray low midway through the first and referee Phil Austin gave the visitor time to recover.

The break only served to invigorate Huni further, and he seemed to be on the verge of a first round stoppage with Potgieter against the ropes, shipping heavy punishment.

He did, however, make it to the bell on his feet but the fight would be over within 33 seconds of the restart. A huge right uppercut was the beginning of the end for Potgieter, who staggered back towards the ropes.

And, when Huni began to unload with both hands to head and body, Austin decided enough was enough.

After the victory, Huni said: โ€œIโ€™m continuing to get better every time i step out here. The more active I am, the better I get.

โ€œItโ€™as just about staying active, I was in the ring not long ago so to be out here on a card like this is massive for my career.

โ€œIโ€™ve got some injuries Iโ€™ve got to take care of but I’ll be back as soon as possible, Iโ€™ll be back in the ring. Iโ€™ll leave it up to my team, I believe I can go all the way.โ€

His promoter Eddie Hearn added: โ€œItโ€™s just what he needed to get that spite back. Three fights in three or four months. Heโ€™s still a young man, but this guy is nearly there already. Heโ€™s top 15 across three governing bodies.โ€
