Isaac Lowe can take a huge step forward

ON Friday night (December 3) inside York Hall, Isaac Lowe, 21-0-3 (6), can take a huge step forward when he takes on fringe featherweight contender Luis Alberto Lopez, 23-2 (12). The Mexican has made good progress in the last two years, beating Andy Vences and Gabriel Flores Jnr. Lopez can win a tasty 12-rounder on points. Charlie Edwards, 16-1 (6) should have an easier time with Spain’s Jacob Barreto, 13-3 (5), on the Lee Eaton-promoted card.

Also tonight in Bilbao, Bolton’s Jack Flatley, 17-1-1 (4), has a monstrous task ahead. He will challenge local hero Kerman Lejarraga, 33-2 (25), for the European super-welterweight title. Flatley has only twice fought at 10-round level (winning and losing to Craig Morris and Harry Scarff respectively) and is short of any big-fight experience. The Spaniard’s vaunted power is not quite as fearsome at 154 as it was at 147 but, nonetheless, it’s difficult to see past a home win, inside schedule.
