Here is an exclusive extract from Carl Framptonโs interview in the Boxing News Annual:
Scott Quigg has suggested that youโre contractually obliged to give him a rematch. Is that true?
Heโs talking out of his arse. There was nothing in the contract that said there has to be a rematch. I think there was something about if the public demanded a rematch then there could be one, but itโd have to be in Belfast. But thatโs as far as it goes. There was a rematch clause in the Santa Cruz contract, but not in the Quigg contract. In the foreseeable future, I canโt see a rematch with Quigg happening, because I donโt think itโs a fight that people would particularly want to see again. It was a boring fight, and I did what I had to do to win. I thought that our styles were going to gel a bit better, but he didnโt want to fight, so I canโt do anything about that. Who wants to see a rematch, apart from Quigg and [his trainer] Joe Gallagher? No one, really.
