Industry Predictions: Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis

SATURDAY nightโ€™s main event at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester between Jack Catterall and Regis Prograis could be described as an unofficial super-lightweight world title eliminator.

Catterall is full of confidence after beating bitter rival Josh Taylor while Prograis, a former two-time champion, craves a third but is in need of a big win after a humiliating loss to Devin Haney.

Chorleyโ€™s Catterall starts as an odds-on favourite but Prograis is certainly a live underdog capable of winning. So what do the boxing industry think? Boxing News picked the brains of several figures to get their opinion on the first boxing event at the Co-op Live Arena.

Below are a brief selection of predictions and to watch more click on the video at the end of this article.

Richie Woodhall (Pundit and former WBC super-middleweight champion)

Tough fight for Jack Catterall. A good, good fight but Catterall is in the form of his life. No reason why he canโ€™t win the contest. What I like about Jack is he can box at range but he can also box on the inside and mix it with the very best. For me, Jack Catterall, itโ€™s a fight he can win.

Adam Azim (Super-lightweight contender)

Iโ€™ve got Catterall beating Prograis. Heโ€™s been at that level and heโ€™s doing quite well. Heโ€™s beaten Josh Taylor so I got Catterall winning on points.

Dalton Smith (Super-lightweight contender)

I think Catterall on a wide pointsโ€™ decision. From his [Prograis] performances you can say heโ€™s maybe sliding a little bit but heโ€™s still a dangerous fighter, heโ€™s been one of the best in the world. Maybe he could turn up and show something he hasnโ€™t in his last few performances.

Liam Smith (Former WBO super-welterweight champion)

I think itโ€™s a very tough fight for Jack. Itโ€™s one I fancy him just nicking on points. A top fight for Jack and itโ€™s literally one step before your world title. Itโ€™s good enough for a world title on the line.
