QUEENSBERRY Promotions boss Frank Warren has teased a โbig showโ slated for this August, with one possible fight, in particular, remaining near the top of his list.
He and Eddie Hearn โ now working together while maintaining a degree of their fierce rivalry โ pitted their promotional stables against one another in an enthralling night of action last year.
In the end, Warren and his band of brawlers secured a shutout victory over team Matchroom, captained by heavyweight ringer Deontay Wilder, in a surprisingly one-sided affair.
But now, it would appear that Hearn may soon be presented with a shot at revenge, as talks of a second 5v5 event continue to gather momentum.
When asked about the likely sequel, Warren told Boxing News: โWeโre doing a big show in August.โ
And despite keeping his cards close to his chest, the veteran promoter could only respond with enthusiasm when discussing a potential showdown between Joe Cordina and Sam Noakes.
โI love that fight; I would do that fight in a heartbeat,โ Warren insisted.
Former world champion Cordina, though no longer fighting under the Matchroom banner, could quite easily be drafted in, like Wilder, for a guaranteed barnburner.
In any case, it has been a frustrating period in the 33-year-oldโs career after a world title opportunity against Shakur Stevenson was scuppered last year.
As a result, the Welshman โ now campaigning at 135lbs โ has not fought since his stunning eighth-round stoppage defeat to Anthony Cacace last May.
Noakes, meanwhile, will feature on the undercard of Cacaceโs super-featherweight dustup with Leigh Wood when he squares off against Patrik Balaz on May 10.
But with his next outing representing little more than a keep-busy fight, the 28-year-old would likely be poised for a mouth-watering Cordina clash in August.
