Fisher targets sharper showing in Allen rematch

JOHNNY Fisher aims to showcase a sharper, fresher version of himself against David Allen in their rematch headlining the Copper Box on Saturday.

Their first fight, a dramatic split decision win for Fisher (95-94, 93-96, 95-94) that saw him floored in the fifth, sparked an unexpected rivalry. Allen, 33, delivered one of his career-best performances, but Fisher, 13-0 (11 KOs), believes heโ€™s evolved since December.

โ€œWe trained very hard, I was very fit but just rest-wise and everything in the build-upโ€ฆ I was meant to fight in August then it was September then I tore my bicep. You canโ€™t train like that for so long and this time Iโ€™ve had a nice rest. Now training in Fuerteventura Iโ€™ve conditioned myself well with the sparring. Iโ€™m just a fresher man. I can see it.โ€

Fisher, 26, told Boxing News he could secure an early win but is ready for another gruelling battle against Allen, 23-7-2 (18 KOs).

โ€œIโ€™m a fan-friendly fighter and people want to see two big blokes going at in the ring as hard as they can. I just think that bit of freshness, tightening everything up and the way that I go about the work. A bit cleaner, a bit tighter, I think thatโ€™s going to be the difference.โ€
