EXCLUSIVE: Who is next for Anthony Joshua?

UK boxing

MATT CHRISTIE was ringside for Anthony Joshua’s victory over Charles Martin and you can read the full in-depth report and analysis in this week’s issue of Boxing News magazine. This is out now on our app and the print version is in stores on Thursday (April 14). Here is an excerpt of the interview conducted with Eddie Hearn regarding Joshua’s next move.

โ€œITโ€™S likely to be an American opponent to appeal to the market over there,โ€ Eddie Hearn tells Boxing News on Tuesday morning about Joshuaโ€™s next fight, likely to be on June 25 at the O2, or July 9 at Wembley Stadium.

โ€œBryant Jennings is high quality and we looked at him as a potential opponent for April 9. But heโ€™s coming off two losses so we donโ€™t know if the IBF would even sanction the fight.

โ€œEric Molina is a good shout, and gave Deontay Wilder a great fight before beating Tomasz Adamek recently, and heโ€™s already ranked.

โ€œDominic Breazeale is 17-0 with 15 knockouts. Heโ€™s a big lump and can really punch.ย

โ€œJarrell Miller is an unknown quantity, ranked No.15 by the IBF, but heโ€™s a good talker.

โ€œBermane Stiverne might be the toughest of them all. He went 12 with Wilder, he has decent speed and good movement.ย

โ€œMalik Scott makes sense, heโ€™s awkward and skilful, but of course he has that huge blotch on his record which was the one-round loss to Wilder. We need some tough guys who can go rounds, but Iโ€™m not sure those guys exist.โ€
