CONOR Benn reckons a gameplan is unnecessary for his April 26 headliner against generational rival Chris Eubank Jr. When the opening bell rings in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there is only one direction heโll be travelling: forwards, straight at his rival.
โYeah, I’m coming here to take his head off,โ Benn snarled during a brooding, understated press conference performance earlier this evening.
Before his son had his say, Nigel Benn told tales of how the โDestroyerโ apparently dealt with the likes of Jaime Munguiaโs conqueror Bruno Surace and Caneloโs next opponent, William Scull, in sparring.
Benn Jr had less to say, threatening to take his adversary to school on Saturday evening. Eubank Jr responded by taking a headmasterly role, resulting in him trapping Benn in a fictional detention, dealing with him accordingly.
Mostly ignoring Chrisโ chatter, Benn added: โI’m excited to get in there and put my hands on him Saturday night. A little bit of all the rubbish he wants to talk and [the] names, we’re not at school. And come Saturday night, I get to put my hands on him.โ
The pair took to the stage after a spicy undercard portion of the press conference that included snips, snipes and some personal insults flying.ย American cruiserweight Brandon Glanton, in particular, was in spiky form.
As for the main eventers, their rivalry has captured some of the attention left by their famous fathers. Nigel remains on board and on the top table. Chris Sr has been absent from proceedings, acting as a vocal critic of the fight and detractor of his son.
