IT was a controversial move on Chris Eubank Jrโs part to take a low key fight against little known Renold Quinlan and put it on ITV Box Office, a new pay-per-view platform.
But he told ITV what he believes sets him apart from other boxers. โI take risks because no one else does and thatโs what people want to see. They want to see a guy whoโs willing to put it all on the line. To stand in front of a man and drop his hands and look at him and say, ‘What are you going to do?’ Thatโs not orthodox. Thatโs not what youโre taught. When you go into a gym and youโre learning how to box itโs protect yourself at all times. Hands up,โ he said. โFor a fighter like me to do the things I do. To keep my hands low, to tell a man come on letโs go, letโs see what youโve got, and let him throw a couple of punches and see if he can get me, people donโt do that.
โI enjoy that. Iโve always enjoyed a challenge. I want to see if this man is fast enough to hit me, I want to see if he can connect.โ
โItโs a mental thing too,โ he added. โThat can break a guy.โ
