Callum Simpson is a widely supported professional boxer who became the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion in 2024. With a loyal fanbase in Barnsley, Yorkshire, eagerly awaiting every step of his promising career, the Brit has already become one of the sport’s most prolific ticket sellers in the UK.

In 53 amateur bouts, Simpson amassed multiple regional accolades before winning the English light-heavyweight title. By his own admission, though, his skills and attributes are perhaps better suited to the professional ranks, where he is swiftly establishing himself as a well-schooled but spiteful operator.

Simpson turned professional in 2019, steaming past his first nine opponents before claiming the Central Area super middleweight title with a second-round stoppage victory over Ben Ridings. It was then in 2023 when the versatile operator inked a long-term deal with Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom, emerging from the small hall scene before eventually headlining his own shows on Sky Sports.

Shortly after, Simpson extended his unbeaten run – beating the likes of sturdy campaigner Boris Crighton – before taking on British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Zak Chelli in 2024. Not only that, but the proud Yorkshireman was presented the opportunity to stage his first 50-50 dustup in front of around 7,000 fans at Oakwell Stadium, home of Barnsley Football Club.

As an avid football fan and former player himself, there was certainly an extra layer of excitement burning beneath the surface when Simpson stepped out onto the pitch. But after a few cagey opening rounds, the home fighter soon began to take control, utilising his sharp jab and versatile repertoire of attacks to secure a wide unanimous decision victory over Chelli.

On January 11, Simpson defended his belts against domestic rival Steed Woodall at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield, England., winning by second-round KO.

Mark Hurley

Simpson is trained by Mark Hurley at Dicky’s Gym in Batley, Leeds. Hurley was part of Josh Warrington’s team when the former world champion won his IBF featherweight title after defeating Lee Selby in 2018.

Simpson, meanwhile, also has experienced manager and coach Kevin Maree in his corner.

Simpson is promoted by Ben Shalom and Boxxer. His fights are televised on Sky Sports.
