ANTHONY JOSHUA and Kubrat Pulev clashed at an uncharacteristically fiery weigh-in on Friday.
The two fight for the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles at Wembley Arena on Saturday (December 12).
Joshua, the champion, is typically measured and controlled until the first bell sounds but at this weigh-in he engaged Pulev in a seemingly frank exchange of views as soon as he stepped on to the scales.
Pulev, in good shape for a 39 year old, weighed 239.7lbs. Joshua as ever in magnificent condition scaled 240.8lbs.
Pulev’s barracking continued as they went head-to-head and even as Joshua left the stage. “It’s not time. Tomorrow I show you,” the Bulgarian cried out.
They couldn’t part on amicable terms, a fist bump turned into an increasingly aggressive clash of fists as burly security guards clustered round them.
“You’re in against a real one now,” Joshua warned him.
“I don’t know, that’s just how we are,” the champion explained afterwards. “He spoke a lot of rubbish, just back yourself.
“I would have just clapped him in his jaw there and then, but I’ve got to do it tomorrow.
“When people come in the ring with me, they’re confident, then after a few rounds their soul gets destroyed and once I see that, I can take him out.”
