ANDY LEE hopes for a rematch with Billy Joe Saunders after relinquishing his WBO world middleweight title to him on Saturday night.
Lee was dropped twice in the third and ended up losing a majority decision and was understandably downbeat after the contest.
The Irishman didn’t comment on his own performance or what his next step might be, though is keen to get another crack at Saunders.
“I just want to congratulate Billy Joe. It’s been a pleasure throughout the build-up, we both conducted ourselves like gentlemen,” he said.
“We both fought our hearts out. The two knockdowns lost it for me, so I can’t argue with the decision. I’d like another go at it though.”
Saunders also expressed interest in fighting Lee again, paying respect to the 31-year-old as a ‘true champion.’
