A WIN for Adam Azim on Saturday night will kickstart a busy period for the 22-year-old.
The unbeaten super-lightweight returns for the first time in eight months when he faces Ohara Davies over 12 rounds at the Copper Box in London.
An ankle injury has kept Azim on the sidelines but this weekend he will no doubt look to remind people of his vast potential. Domestic clashes against Harlem Eubank and Dalton Smith could be on the horizon but the former European champion says he isnโt looking past Davies.
โMy eyes are on Ohara Davies but straight after this fight Iโm taking a week off,โ he told Boxing News.
โIโve got another fight straight after that as well. Itโs not agreed yet but weโre looking at December time then Iโve got another fight in February so Iโm back to back.
โI think for a boxer like myself, whoโs just young and had 11 fights, [I need] to get my rรฉsumรฉ a bit higher. Iโve got to keep active.โ
Azim told BN that a fight against Smith, who is being lined up to fight for the vacant EBU title in December against Jon Fernandez, will happen and could do so in 2025. Smithโs recent taste of action came in March when he took care of former world title challenger Jose Zepeda in five rounds. Azim believes Davies is of a similar calibre to Zepeda.
โTheyโre both at world level so weโve got a big fight here and Iโve got to focus on that,โ Azim said.
